
"SONbuddy failed configuring
WLAN network. Would you like to retry? If this error message continuously
pops up, please first stop SONbuddy, then disable and re-enabled WLAN
to solve this problem."
Symptoms & Causes
You start SONbuddy on your device and click OK to configure
SONbuddy. During the configuration phase, you may receive this error message
ans SONbuddy will still be able to continue after you click "Yes",
but you are unable to see anyone under the BuddyList. This behavior can
occur when SONbuddy failed to connect to the WLAN network selected.
Solution
If you are running SONbuddy with Windows XP Service
Pack 1, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Please open
SONbuddy by clicking on the SONbuddy shortcut icon on your desktop
OR
Click on Start > All Programs > Green Packet >
SONbuddy
Note:
If you have chosen to use the USB dongle/PCMCIA card that comes with the
purchase of SONbuddy, then by default the 802.11g USB 2.0 Wireless LAN
Adapter or IEEE 802.11g Wireless Cardbus/PCI Adapter will be selected
if the adapter has been detected and installed in your device. Also please
ensure that you have selected the Wireless interface card under the Network
card table in order to build up an instant network.

Step
2: Click on the "Add Network" button.
Step 3: From the pop up "Add
New Network" window, enter your preferred network name into
the Network Name text box, for instance "SONBUDDY" and
WEP KEY is "1234567890".
Step 4: Check "For Adhoc
connection only" and click OK.
Step 5: Click OK again to run

If you are running SONbuddy with Windows XP Service
Pack 2, please follow the steps below:

Step
1: Prior to running SONbuddy, please make sure your Windows
wireless connection is not showing a disconnected status (left figure)
from the system tray, if so please open the Wireless network connection
table and choose to select any available network or create a network
to connect.

After step 1, you should be able to see the
wireless connection pop up message from the system tray as in the
figure on the right. |

Step 3: Please open
SONbuddy by clicking on the SONbuddy shortcut icon on your desktop
OR
Click on Start > All Programs > Green Packet >
SONbuddy

Step
4: Click on "Advanced Option" to start configuring
SONbuddy. |
Step 5: Go to the
Connection Manager Page and select the network interface card from the
table.
Note: If you have chosen to use the USB dongle/PCMCIA card that comes

6: You can either select to connect to any available networks
from the table or add you preferred network by clicking on Add Network
button.
Step 7: Click
on the "Add Network" button.

name into the Network Name text box, for instance "SONBUDDY"
and WEP KEY is "1234567890".
Step 9:
Check "For Adhoc connection only" and click OK.
Step 10:
Click OK again to run SONbuddy
