"Connection manager is disabled because the selected card is either a wired card or a non NDIS 5.1 compliant card. If you have chosen a wireless card, please manually reconfigure your WLAN card or upgrade your wireless card driver."

Symptoms & Causes

When you select your wireless network card from the Network interface table, SONbuddy may have detected that the selected wireless network interface is not NDIS 5.1 compliant. You may receive this error message. This behavior can occur as the SONbuddy driver has a mechanism to determine whether your card follows all the NDIS 5.1 standards set by Microsoft. The mechanism works in such that the driver will send a query to trigger network card for a reply. Then from the reply, the SONbuddy driver determines its compliance.

Solution

Step 1: Upgrade your wireless card to the latest driver

1. Please visit the card's vendor's support site to find out if there is a latest driver available for download.
2. If so, please download the latest driver and install the driver on your device.

Step 2: Configure your Wireless Network Connection with the Client Manager provided

1. Use the Client Manager provided to you together when you purchase your wireless card to configure your WLAN networks.
2. If you choose to use the Client Manager to configure your wireless network settings, to avoid conflicting settings, uncheck the Use Windows to configure my wireless settings.
