When you start SONbuddy, you are unable to see any available network inside the Available Network table under the connection manager page while selecting Green Packet 802.11g USB 2.0 Wireless LAN Adapter to configure SONbuddy.

Solution

Step 1: Manually add the network to join

1. Click on BuddyManager and then click on the Connection Manager tab. Next click on Add Network.
2. In the Network Name text box, enter the name of the network that you want to create (E.g. SONBUDDY).
3. Select your WEP status from the dropdown list box.
4. You may select your data encryption as 10-digit HEX, 26-digit HEX or disable the WEP data encryption.
5. If you choose to enable 10-digit HEX WEP data encryption, then enter 10-digit HEX string consisting of number 0–9, a-f or A-F only.
6. Click the box to select the option For Ad hoc connection only if you specifically want to create an ad hoc network.
7. Click OK to close the Add New Network setting.
8. Click OK to start configuring SONbuddy.

Step 2: Install the third party wireless connection utilities

1. Prior to running SONbuddy with Green Packet 802.11g USB 2.0 Wireless LAN Adapter, install the additional utilities from SONbuddy’s Wireless Mobile Router CD.
